Chevy Trailblazer May Get Just Three Months as a 2027 Model

One of Chevrolet’s cheapest models, the Trailblazer subcompact crossover SUV, may have an unusually short production run for the 2027 model year.

The 2027 Trailblazer will reportedly remain in production for just three months before being replaced for the 2028 model year, according to sources familiar with the matter cited by GM Authority. While the automaker made no official announcement regarding this, the South Korea-made crossover may be in for a series of updates for the 2028MY.

Unchanged Since 2024

Launched in 2021, the current Trailblazer received a mid-cycle facelift in 2024 gaining refreshed styling, a redesigned cabin, and improved tech features. Everything else has stayed the same since 2021, so the TrailBlazer does need some new features to remain relevant on the market.

Until that happens, it appears that the 2027 Trailblazer will be a stopgap model. While initially it was believed that the 137-horsepower turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder (LBP) gas engine would be ditched for 2027, it appears that the LBP motor will remain available in the 2027 Chevy Trailblazer LS and LT trim levels when equipped with front-wheel drive.

As for the 155-hp turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder (L3T), it will continue to be available with both front- and all-wheel drive. Chances are the base 1.2-liter engine will be discontinued for the 2028 model year, which is expected to bring a host of improvements.

The 2027 Chevy Trailblazer will continue to offer customers a choice of four trim levels (LS, LT, RS, and Activ), along with three powertrain and drivetrain combinations. Those include the 1.2-liter engine with FWD and the 1.3-liter engine with either FWD and AWD.

A Simplified Lineup For 2027MY

The 2027 Trailblazer lineup will also be simplified by several ordering restrictions. For example, the Confidence Package (RPO code WPN) and Convenience Package (RPO code WPG) must now be ordered together (they used to be separate for 2026MY).

Buyers who go for the LT trim and want the Midnight Edition (WJP) with the 1.2L engine and front-wheel drive must also select the Driver Confidence Package (ZL5), the Cold Weather Package (Y19), and the Convenience Package (ZL3).

For LT buyers who want the Midnight Edition with the more powerful 1.3-liter engine, the Driver Confidence Package, Cold Weather Package, and Convenience Package will be also bundled with the power sunroof (C3U). The Midnight Edition package was a standalone option for 2026.

Moving up to the RS trim, the Adaptive Cruise & Sound Package (CWN) will be bundled with the Driver Confidence Package (ZL5), Convenience Package (ZL3), and the power sunroof (C3U). Previously, only the Driver Confidence Package and Convenience Package were required.


Finally, all Activ trim models will require the Driver Confidence Package and Convenience Package, while the power sunroof will remain optional. No pricing information is available for the 2027 Trailblazer yet, but the 2026 model currently starts at $25,095 (including $1,795 destination freight charge).
