After more than 20 years on the market, the cuddly little Daihatsu Copen roadster is headed for retirement. The company announced that it would end production of the retractable-hardtop convertible in August 2026, and keen to honor the owners and enthusiasts who have made the Copen the envy of minicar-loving Americans for whom the Mazda Miata is just too large, Daihatsu will host special events throughout Japan beginning in April 2026. Think of the celebration as a sort of funeral, except it’ll happen before the Copen dies, so it’ll actually get to hear the nice things people say.
