
In 2024, Dallas created the 4th highest number of new apartments through building conversions, according to RentCafe.com’s Adaptive Reuse Report. Â
Almost 25,000 apartments were created from converted buildings across the country in 2024. That’s the strongest year on record and 50% more than in 2023.Â
Dallas narrowly missed the top spot for office-to-apartment conversions in 2024, delivering 584 new units — just 4 shy of Manhattan’s total.Â
Dallas created the 4th highest number of apartments from unused buildings, adding about 700 new apartments to its housing supply. Â
Three adaptive reuse projects were completed in the city last year, including the makeover of the 50-story Santander Tower, now known as the Peridot Residences, with 291 downtown units (shown).Â
