Often, people mix up premium and luxury as interchangable terms. Like many terms, supercar is a prime example; there’s no official classification, so it’s understandable. As car enthusiasts, nerds, and professional writers that like hard and fast terms, though, we find this annoying. So, we’re going to try and rectify this. Thankfully, it is easy to separate the affordable segment from premium and upward with a few simple tests. For example, lift the hood of a car, and if you have to physically lift the strut and fit it in place, you have an affordable car. Similarly, if you can’t close the trunk or tailgate with a button, you have an affordable car. However, from there, it can get a bit sticky.
