The prices of the latest iPhones are higher than ever, but there’s some good news for people who bought some models that are a few years older: Apple may owe you up to $95.
That’s because in May, the company agreed to settle a lawsuit alleging it misled customers about the AI capabilities of select iPhones sold in 2024 and 2025. Now people who say they were impacted can finally make a claim. Here’s what you need to know.
What is the settlement about?
The settlement centers on a class action lawsuit alleging that Apple advertised certain artificial intelligence features for its Siri AI chatbot on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models that the company failed to ship in a timely manner.
The class action alleges that consumers were harmed by these undelivered Siri promises because they bought an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 model expecting specific Apple Intelligence AI features within a certain timeframe.
Such features included Siri on-screen awareness, which Apple originally previewed in June of 2024, when the iPhone 15 Pro was still the company’s flagship device.
That fall, when Apple announced the new iPhone 16 series, it said Siri’s on-screen awareness features would arrive by early 2025.Â
In reality, Apple kept pushing back the rollout. On-screen Siri AI awareness ultimately arrived on the iPhone with the release of iOS 27 earlier this month. That’s around 18 months after Apple initially said the feature would roll out.
Apple was sued by people who bought the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series due to these delayed features.
Instead of entering a costly legal battle, Apple in May agreed to settle the lawsuit for $250 million, while admitting no wrongdoing.
This week, the settlement website launched its official claims form, which means people who say they were impacted by the delayed Siri AI features can finally file a a claim seeking part of the $250 million settlement fund.
Who is included in the Siri Apple Intelligence settlement?
In order to be eligible to make a claim for a portion of the $250 million settlement, you must meet the following criteria, according to the official settlement website:
- You must be living in the United States.
- You must have purchased an eligible iPhone (see below) in the United States.
- You must have purchased that eligible iPhone between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.
- You must be the original purchaser of the device.
- The device must have been purchased for personal or business use, and not for resale.
Which iPhones are included in the settlement?
Eligible iPhone models covered under this settlement include the following:
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
Other iPhones are not covered by the settlement.
How much can I get from the settlement?
The settlement saw Apple agree to pay $250 million. However, some of that money will go toward compensating the lawyers representing the class action plaintiffs and covering court costs. The remaining funds will be distributed to those covered by the settlement.
According to the settlement website, individuals who file a successful claim will receive a payment of $25. However, that payment may increase significantly, depending on how many people file a claim.
The maximum amount people who file a successful claim can expect is $95. The final amount will not be known until after the claim submission window has closed.
How do I get my share of the Siri Apple Intelligence settlement?
In order to receive a payment from the settlement funds, affected individuals must file a claim.Â
Claims can be filed online. Claimants are urged to read the full details on the official settlement website to determine whether they qualify for a payment.
But potential claimants need to act fast. Claim submissions open today, Monday, September 21. But the claim window is relatively short. Eligible individuals must file a claim by December 21, 2026—just three months from today.
