For muscle car fans, it’s nigh impossible to beat the Dodge Challenger, and ignoring the more recent electric Dodge Charger and Challenger, the previous-generation ‘LA’ Challengers continue to be held in high regard for one simple reason: the Hemi V8. With a highly tunable engine under the hood and an extremely pliable platform on top of it, you can mold it to become anything you want. You can go completely nuts and build the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, or you can tone it down just a bit and get something like the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock. The ideal sweet-spot, however, for drivability and performance, may actually be the early Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat generations.
