Another Problem for the Electric Escalade
We barely finished talking about the Escalade IQ’s suspension headaches, and now GM is back with another service bulletin – this time, it’s the climate control system that’s causing trouble.
GM’s latest service bulletin (that’s #26-NA-229, for those keeping score) says some 2025-2026 Escalade IQ and 2026 Escalade IQ L might have heating and A/C issues. Not exactly what you want in a massive luxury electric SUV.
But wait, there’s more. Some Escalades also flash warnings like “Service High Voltage System” or “Maximum Charge Level is Limited” on the dash. If you’re seeing those messages along with weird A/C behavior, it’s enough to make any owner wonder if something bigger is going wrong under the hood.

A Faulty Valve Could Be Behind the Problem
GM Authority, which caught the service bulletin, reports that GM thinks a failed evaporator check valve is to blame. This little part is supposed to keep the refrigerant flowing where it should in the climate control system.
The catch, however, is that bits inside the valve can come loose, which messes with the refrigerant flow and leaves you with a climate system that just can’t keep up. You might even see trouble codes P0534 and B3A6F pop up, both tied to the A/C refrigerant system.
GM has a step-by-step for techs to figure out if the valve is the problem. First, crank the front climate control to its coldest setting and max fan, and turn off the second and third-row controls.
Next, make sure the A/C compressor is running and the electronic expansion valve is open. Let it run for five minutes, then check the refrigerant temps to see if the check valve is busted or maybe even installed the wrong way.
If the valve’s toast and parts are missing, things get trickier. GM says techs need to swap out the receiver/dehydrator bottle and flush the whole refrigerant system to clear out any leftover debris.

This Isn’t a DIY Repair
Like most service bulletins, this isn’t really for people who want to do it themselves. GM’s instructions are meant for dealership techs who know these systems well. Still, if your Escalade IQ or IQL is having issues with the climate control, or you’re seeing those warning messages, it’s worth asking your service center to check the evaporator check valve.
Keep in mind, not every 2025-2026 Escalade IQ or 2026 IQL is affected. The bulletin only covers certain vehicles, so make sure you get a proper diagnosis before swapping any parts.
For now, if you’re running into these issues, your best bet is to let an authorized Cadillac service center take a look. At least GM’s Service Bulletin #26-NA-229 gives techs a better idea of where to start.
