Halfway through 2026, Nissan had sold 1,705 copies of their halo performance car, the Z. By that same point, Honda had sold 1,723 copies of the just-launched new Prelude, recently reincarnated as a sporty, hybrid-propelled coupe. These are two very different cars with very different shoppers, though they cost virtually the same. So far this year, shoppers in the sub-$45,000 coupe marketplace have shown with their dollars what they might be considering the most trendy right now.
