“Tried”
You could say that every cloud has a silver lining, but some also say that you can’t polish a turd. The industry was set on fire when Ferrari launched the Luce. Critically panned, lambasted, and all sorts of negative comments were thrown at the Prancing Horse’s EV, but who could blame them?
Hardcore Ferrari fans might have their work cut out trying to defend the brand right now. I might have expected this design to come out of China, but really? Is this a Ferrari? Anyway, I’m sorry for the “minor” crashout, but Venuum, a premium aftermarket brand with roots in Spain, tried its hand at improving the Luce, and they might have just saved it?
It Looks a “Little” More Ferrari
I have to admit, when not painted in that ridiculous blue-ish teal launch color, something may yet be salvaged from the Luce. I guess that was what Venuum tried to do here: render a black car up against a black background to make it look even a tiny bit sleeker.
Venuum also gave the rendered Luce a wide body, a front splitter, side skirts, and a rear diffuser that somehow makes the Luce’s rear end look like a 360 Modena if you squint hard enough. Of course, the wheel arches were filled out, and the car was lowered. One of the things I hated about the Luce was its wheel gap, and this isn’t the first render I’ve seen that lowers this EV.
Apart from that, we have a little wing at the back, some custom wheels, and fender arches to “fix” how the Luce sits. Debate all you want about how the Ferrari Luce looks nothing like a Ferrari, but the brand is already reporting orders for the over-$600,000 EV.
Would You Customize Yours Like This?
Venuum stated in its post that “the base platform was a difficult one… but that’s exactly what makes the challenge exciting,” and I think they did a pretty good job at making a Ferrari actually look more like a Ferrari. Polarizing as it is, orders are coming in, and perhaps some of those future owners could give Venuum a call to discuss how to turn their Luces into something like this one.
I still don’t think the Luce looks good. Considering that it’s a Ferrari only makes it worse. Again, maybe someone like BYD, Geely, or even Xiaomi could have designed a car like this and gotten away with it, but not Ferrari. I think the brand could have done better. Vennum did a pretty good job, but considering the base, sorry, not sorry! What do you think, though?
