The newest 2016 Ford GT supercar shocked the world with its surprise debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, where it won the crowd popularity contest against the also-new Acura NSX. The new GT also came with a promise for the car to return to motorsport and take on the 24 Hours of Le Mans race again, which the original Ford GT40 had famously won in the past. Lucky for Ford, the new GT managed to place first and third at the 2016 Le Mans race, cementing the latest generation as another icon.
