After a brief stint in the ’60s as a special model from the original Mustang series, the first of the modern Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 generations was revived as a 2007 model as part of the fifth-generation S-197 Mustang. It came with a supercharged 5.4L V8 and a six-speed stick shift. It served as a successor to the early-2000s SVT Cobra. It was fiendishly quick, but nose-heavy due to the iron-block engine, but this problem was fixed in 2010 with a far lighter aluminum engine. The car received a huge 112-hp power hike in 2012 and the last one was made the next year.
