Some cars grow into the status of “icon” thanks to their popularity: think of the Volkswagen Beetle, with its ubiquitous presence on the world’s roads, or the Ford Mustang, which has become synonymous with “muscle car” over the course of several generations. Other cars, on the other hand, become iconic despite their rarity, or perhaps because of it.
