Cost Of Ownership
Buying a vehicle entails a lot of upfront cost; apart from the actual sticker or suggested retail price you pay for the car, there are destination charges, and most importantly, the car insurance fee.
Car insurance is non-negotiable when purchasing a new car or even when continuously running the vehicle in the long term. Considering that it is also a year wherein most buyers are looking into hybrids and EVs, it would be wise to see which are the most affordable when it comes to insurance; thankfully, someone made a list.

Furthermore, according to them, insurance costs for electrified mobility are affected by more or less the same variables as traditional cars, including repair costs, replacement parts, safety technology, and historical claims.

The computations done by Mercury Insurance analyzed insurance costs for new 2025-2027 model year hybrids and EVs. Rankings are based on Mercury’s internal insurance analysis. Individual premiums vary based on driver profile, location, coverage selections, and other underwriting factors.
Taking a closer look at the list shows a very stark contrast between EVs and hybrids in the fact that hybrids are much, much more affordable to insure and abundant. The list contains 8 hybrids and only 2 EVs. Interestingly, the Hyundai Santa Fe tops the list overall, with 2nd place occupied by the Chevy Blazer EV. Furthermore, the list comprises mostly family SUVs and minivans with no sedan cracking the top 10.
