General Motors this week introduced two new V8 engines designed for its next-generation full-size SUVs and pickup trucks, starting with the new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, which arrive for the 2027 model year. The engines aren’t a product of recent US policy changes, though. As other automakers throttled back on V8 grunt, GM gambled that the future still had room for the most American engine of them all.
