Body-on-frame SUVs have been growing in popularity over the last few years, especially recently. For example, Hyundai has a body-on-frame SUV concept called the Boulder. Nissan is bringing back the Xterra with a body-on-frame platform, and reports suggest a body-on-frame version of the Pathfinder is also coming.
