Lamborghini’s 907 HP Police Car Is Designed For When Every Second Counts

Police cars don’t have to be boring and Lamborghini is proving that once again as they’ve unveiled the new Temerario Polizia. Created specifically for the Italian State Police, the high-performance model will be used in cases where every second counts.

We’re talking about transporting organs and other critical medical supplies in emergencies. Since Lamborghini and the Italian State Police kicked off the initiative with the Gallardo in 2004, over two hundred organs have been successfully transported. The effort has saved numerous lives and this will continue into the future.

Lamborghini said surprisingly little about the car itself, but we can see a blue and white livery with “Polizia” badging on the doors. The Temerario also has a roof-mounted light bar as well as tri-color graphics inspired by the Italian flag.

A short video put out by the Italian State Police reveals what appears to be a stock interior with black and tan leather. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s outfitted with additional equipment – such as communications gear – before entering service.

Motivation comes from a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, three electric motors, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 3.8 kWh battery pack. This gives the coupe a combined output of 907 hp (677 kW / 920 PS) and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque. Thanks to those healthy numbers, the model can rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.7 seconds, before topping out at 213 mph (343 km/h).

Getting back to the partnership, the Italian State Police have fielded six Lamborghinis over the years including the Gallardo LP 560-4, Huracán, and Urus Performante. Besides transporting life-saving organs, they’ve participated in more than 1,500 road safety education events to promote safe driving.
