The idea of using a turbine to power a car is just so awesome that multiple automakers have spent years trying to bring it to the masses, most notably Chrysler with its Turbine Car and General Motors with its Firebird concepts. While earlier turbine cars could boast sounding like a jet on taxi, they were loud even at idle. Unsurprisingly then, they also struggled with poor fuel efficiency, and their engines were expensive to produce and maintain. As a result, none have made it to production in any significant numbers.
