Lenovo Spending $145M on Greensboro-Area Plant Expansion

Lenovo opened its new smart campus in Whitsett for everyone to see. The new campus is located near Lenovo’s fulfillment center. The multi-million dollar facility will be used to build servers and manufacture products for customers in North Carolina. The $145 million investment expands the Whitsett facility footprint to 890,000 square feet (twice its original size). 

Manufacturing operations are already underway at the expanded facility originally built in 2007, with more than 400 positions filled and hundreds of additional jobs expected as production continues to scale.  
 

The Triad Business Journal reports Lenovo received an incentive package from the Guilford County Board of Commissioners worth around $1.16 million.

Called the North Carolina Smart Campus (NCSC), the NCSC is part of Lenovo’s global manufacturing network of more than 30 regional facilities strategically located close to customers across 11 markets, including Argentina, Brazil, China, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Vietnam.

 Lenovo, is the world’s largest personal computer manufacturer.
