Following the rapid ascent and popularity of rugged, adventure-oriented SUVs across North America, Mazda sought to capitalize on this booming market with the unveiling of the Mazda CX-50 in 2021, with production beginning in 2022 for the 2023 model year. The Mazda CX-50 is one of the brand’s most popular models in the US, and between the CX-50 and the CX-50 Hybrid, they’re the only cars that Mazda makes in the US, assembled at the jointly run Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA (MTMUS) in Alabama.
