At one time, you could find five-cylinder engines in a variety of vehicles. They’d not only power some of rallying’s great legends but they’d typically be under the hood of luxury sedans, hot hatchbacks, wagons, SUVs, and even some pickup trucks. But the very distinctive sound that these engines emit is no longer an everyday acoustical event on an American highway.
