In January, Jesse surprised me with an anniversary trip in January. He told me we were going somewhere very unique. I had no idea what that meant or what to expect, but I was excited to see what he had booked.
Well, Kierstyn and Micah ended up getting strep so we had to re-book. Jesse decided that he wouldn’t keep where we were staying a secret since he could barely wait to tell me… and I’m so happy he did because it meant that I got to spend the next two months looking forward to where we were going to stay.
And it was an EPIC choice!
We stayed in a Dome Tent on Center Hill Lake near Springville, TN. You can see a bunch of professional pics of where we stayed on their website. You can also see more pictures inside here.
We had the BEST time and I would highly recommend staying here! There’s nothing quite like sleeping under the stars while also having a beautiful bathroom and air conditioning!

When we got in, it was pretty hot and the dome was hot (it’s sort of like a greenhouse — especially with the sun beating down on it!). In fact, the thermostat read 99 degrees!
We texted the owners and asked if it was normal. They asked if they could come investigate. They brought a fan, helped turn on a second AC unit, and also turned on a sprinkler that watered down the outside of the dome for an hour. Within about 30 minutes, it was much cooler!
By evening, it was a little chilly and we wanted to put on cozy clothes and be under blankets — which was perfect!

One of the things I loved was that there was no TV and you just wanted to hang out at the fire pit or in the hot tub. It was perfect for encouraging lots of time in nature and lots of time together.

They had some games and puzzles and books and we had fun playing a rousing game of Scrabble – something I don’t know that we’ve ever played together.

The views were stunning! Getting to see the sun rise and the views of the lake and the stars at night… it was so cool. Jesse and I kept being like, “We are definitely fans of this glamping thing!”

We brought all our own food and were glad we did since the domes were fairly far from the town and we didn’t want to waste any time we had there driving into town!

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and prep what what we had brought. I would recommend bringing your own water bottles. We didn’t try the water from the faucet and they didn’t have a water purifier that I saw.

Nothing like waking up to this view!!

There is a walking trail on the property that leads down to Center Hill Lake. We loved this short hike. It was absolutely beautiful!

I’m so grateful for the gift of this man and 23 years of marriage to him — even if we needed to celebrate our anniversary a few months late!

After we left the dome (we stayed until the very last minute because we wanted to soak it all up!), we drove to Springville, TN to check it out.

We had researched online for a local coffee shop and the internet recommended Buttonwillow General Store and Coffee shop. It was the perfect small town coffee shop and we loved visiting (though I was hungry for protein and all they had were carbs, sweets, and coffee!)

What a special 22-hour getaway! And now Jesse and I are on the hunt for other glamping experiences! If you know of any in Tennessee or within a 3-hour drive of Nashville, please let me know!
