Someone Paid $1 Million to Turn GTA’s Nightshark Into a Real Car

Grand Theft Auto VI is coming later this year. Alongside its release, one particular Grand Theft Auto fan will receive a rather unusual second gift. One of the game’s most imposing vehicles, the armored HVY Nightshark, is leaving the virtual world behind. Dartz Motorz is building a fully drivable version for a mystery customer who reportedly paid seven figures for it.

The GTA Nightshark Is Coming To Life

Grand Theft Auto has never been short of outrageous cars, but few are quite as imposing as the HVY Nightshark. According to Rockstar Intel, Latvian manufacturer Dartz is building a 1:1, road-going recreation of the vehicle for a private client who has reportedly paid $1 million for the commission. Rockstar added the Nightshark to GTA Online in 2017, and it was based on Dartz’s Black Shark. Nearly a decade later, Dartz is effectively reversing the process by turning Rockstar’s fictional interpretation into a real vehicle.

The finished Nightshark is expected to make its public debut in Miami in November 2026, during the release week of GTA VI. Dartz says production is already nearing completion, although its final name, specifications, interior details, and owner’s identity remain under wraps.

The $1 Million GTA Replica Is Driveable

Dartz says the one-off will be a fully functional vehicle that can actually be driven, making this much more interesting than simply recreating the Nightshark for display. Founder Leonard F. Yankelovich reportedly regarded Rockstar’s use of the Black Shark as a compliment. Now Dartz is returning the favor by spending a seven-figure budget on a real-world version of the game’s creation.

This year has been great for auto enthusiasts and gamers alike. From the release of Forza Horizon 6, we;ve been feasting our eyes on cool custom and one-off builds like the Singer-Louis Vuitton 911, 911 GT2 RS Flachbau, and Toy Story-inspired 911s. There’s been much to drool over, and later this year, the IRL Nightshark will be added to that list.

GTA VI Is Bringing More Real Cars

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles after multiple delays. Rockstar hasn’t released a complete vehicle list, but some real-life-inspired cars confirmed for GTA VI include the Porsche 911, Dodge Viper, Ford Crown Victoria, and Ferrari Testarossa.

Now, one of GTA’s most recognizable vehicles will exist outside the game, too. And unlike the Nightshark sitting in your virtual garage or some stationary life-sized replicas, this one will actually be able to hit the road.
