In the 1960s, many Chevrolet owners enjoyed going drag racing. However, its parent company, General Motors, banned the various divisions from participating in factory-backed motorsports. Some of GM’s marques found ways to stretch the rules, though. As part of its quest for glory and coveted bragging rights, Chevy created a very special drag-strip monster that’s extremely rare and costly to acquire today. This is the story of the 1963 Impala Z11, a high-speed racer that, for the average collector, is typically unobtainable.
