While Jeep is a historic nameplate known for its rugged off-road machines and family SUVs, it also perfectly represents the recent struggles of its parent company, Stellantis, and those of the American auto industry as a whole. It has taken a while to get with the EV program in the first place, and it isn’t clear indeed how committed it is to it with the Recon arriving late, some models and product ranges have been cut from the lineup, and others are waiting for a replacement. Despite all of this, Jeep has a lot to offer for the American SUV consumer, but the best Jeep for someone looking to master a trail is not the best Jeep for someone who has six passengers and lots of stuff to carry.
