BMW’s full-scale acquisition of Alpina at the beginning of the year, spinning it off into the appropriately named BMW Alpina sub-brand, was a huge shakeup for the tuning company. But its qualities of performance, design, and craftsmanship aren’t going away, as both Bavarian companies have committed to upholding Alpina’s legacy for excellent interior materials and distinctive styling touches. However, according to Philip Koehn, product director for luxury cars, Alpina, and Rolls-Royce, the sub-brand best known for torquey engines and multispoke wheels may no longer produce variants of BMW’s lower-priced vehicle lines, like the 3 Series.
