- For the third consecutive year, Romain Dumas claimed victory at the hillclimb.
- Ford’s special Pikes Peak Mach-E out-sprinted even a Gen4 Formula E car.
- Travis Pastrana also put on a show at Goodwood with his custom Subaru Brat.
Goodwood’s Festival of Speed has wrapped for another year, and as ever the entry list ran the full spread, classic machinery, limited-run supercars and hypercars, and a deep field of race cars. When the dust settled on the hillclimb, the quickest car of the lot was a very special Ford Mustang Mach-E.
Admittedly, this is no ordinary Ford. It’s called the Super Mustang Mach-E and was first showcased last year and originally conceived for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Just three weeks ago, Romain Dumas claimed victory at the Race to the Clouds, recording a time of 8:18.202.

During Sunday’s final Shoot-Out Final, Dumas once again piloted the Super Mustang Mach-E, and the Frenchman, who has made a career out of winning, came out on top. He set a best time of 41.98 seconds, meaning this is now the third consecutive victory he’s claimed at Goodwood, and the fifth overall.
To put Dumas’ time into perspective, he out-sprinted a Gen4 Formula E car up the short hillclimb, driven by Daniel Ticktum and recording a time of 42.46.
There were plenty of other awesome cars that competed in the Shoot-Out Final, although none came close to rivaling the EVs. In third place was Alex Summers driving a Shadow-Chevrolet DN4 Can-Am sports prototype from 1974 with a time of 46.31 seconds, just 0.01 seconds quicker than Johan Kristoffersson in a VW Polo RallyCross car.
Perhaps the crowd favorite was Travis Pastrana with his very special Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo, recording a time of 46.77 seconds.
BMW also brought along its all-new M Concept Neue Klasse, which previews the upcoming all-electric M3, alongside a pair of legendary forebears celebrating 40 years of the nameplate, the 1986 E30 M3 homologation special and the limited-production 2011 E92 M3 GTS.
