Collector car markets have a way of vindicating the underdogs, and few automotive underdogs are more deserving than the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. Born out of one of the most turbulent chapters in General Motors history, these two-seat roadsters were championed by industry legend Bob Lutz and, with subtle brand-specific tweaks, sold across four GM nameplates in North America and Europe. At the time, plenty of observers questioned whether a cash-strapped automaker should be building sports cars at all. Today, with values quietly climbing, the answer is looking a lot more obvious.
