As time goes on, performance cars increasingly rely on small, turbocharged engines. Couple those smaller engines with hybrid systems, too, and you have the average, modern performance car. Think of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance, for example, that used an electrically assisted, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder to make 671 horsepower.
