911 Restomods
There are many ways to skin a classic Porsche 911. You can keep it stock, restore it, do an extreme restomod, and everything in between. You have companies like Singer that enhance the classic cues and combine them with modern powertrains, and you also have RWB that would take a hacksaw to the car and make purists wince.
Then you have Gunther Werks, a firm that specializes in 993-generation 911s and turns these into absolute weapons. The company is no stranger to building extreme 993s, and has rolled out many over the years. We’ve covered several of its builds, the most recent being the Turbo Commission.

Meet the Brundle Edition
If you follow Formula 1 or motorsports in general, the name Martin Brundle should sound familiar. He was wheel-to-wheel with Ayrton Senna, posted strong results in F1, and found greater success in touring car and sports car racing. In other words, the man can steer a car very well. He’s better known by the younger generation as a pundit in F1, which has been his day job for nearly 30 years.
Still, his driving accolades are worth mentioning. With that, Gunther Werks has paid tribute to the man with a very special kind of 993. Dubbed the Gunther Werks Brundle Edition, the touching part is that Martin’s daughter, Charlie, designed it. We know it’s been months since Father’s Day, but we’ll count this as a pretty awesome present.

One of Five
Brundle approved the project, and it’s hard to say no. It’s rather ironic that Brundle never raced in Porsches professionally and quite famously beat the German automaker in the 1990 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Jaguar. Still, he did own several 911s, so there’s still a bit of a connection there.
Charlie paid tribute to her father by designing a livery inspired by her dad’s crash helmet. It’s then complemented by one-off forged magnesium wheels inspired by the Brabham Formula 1 car he drove. Unique Brundle wordmarks also appear inside and out, and other neat details appear in the cabin. Our favorite has to be one of Brundle’s famous sayings immortalized on the dashboard: “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel.” Only five will be built.

Not Just Fancy Paint
But this is a Gunther Werks car, so the 993 gets a healthy amount of upgrades. Starting with the chassis, it has a wider front track, thicker anti-roll bars, and bespoke suspension arms. It even has DGR computer-controlled active coilovers tuned specifically for the Brundle Edition.
As for the engine, it’s a 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six built by Rothsport Racing for Gunther Werks, revving up to 7,500 rpm. That tuning delivers 860 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque, all sent to the rear wheels. The best part? It has an honest-to-goodness six-speed manual.
Brundle might not have raced for Porsche, but Guther Werks’ tribute would do the man proud.
