Just before the United States suffered its massive bombing at Pearl Harbor which resulted in our involvement in World War II, a company called Willys was hard at work developing a small, off-road-ready vehicle that would become one of the most popular SUVs ever sold in the United States, and maybe even the world. The model, the Willys Jeep, was meant to provide the US military with a light, easy-to-use, and capable small transport vehicle complete with solid-front-axle four-wheel drive.
