The Pursuit of Speed and Legacy
One car is single-handedly credited with creating what we call the “hypercar” segment. The Bugatti Veyron was born as a showcase of what “pushing the envelope” meant when it came to capability – a 2-door coupe that had a top speed of 250 mph, thanks to a 1,000 hp motor, but would do so while cocooning the driver in luxury and comfort.
With the Veyron being the very best, it also appealed to the very wealthy. But to keep Bugatti’s exclusive clientele interested, the automaker would often introduce very limited bespoke variants. One such variant is about to go on sale, courtesy of RM Sotheby’s.

Ultra-Rare “Nocturne” Edition
The variant in question is the 2010 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 “Nocturne” edition, and it’s one of only five ever sold exclusively to the Middle East market (a huge market for Bugatti). The Nocturne was actually part of a trilogy of special edition Veyrons, together with “Sang d’Argent” and Grand Sport “Soleil de Nuit,” with the Nocturne being the grandest and most exclusive of the three.
In this particular case, the unit up for sale has just clocked 2,612 miles at the time of cataloging, and is cloaked in a full paint-protection film. It is offered with a collection of accessories, including a battery charger, a car cover, a speed key, and an owner’s manual with a service book.
This particular model also features “mirror-finished aluminum and black panels with a cabin featuring a black nano-coated magnesium dashboard and polished platinum center console.” Bugatti used galvanized side window frames that extended the polished body line to the rear, giving the Nocturne an elongated stance. The bonnet is polished aluminum, with a similar polished look also applied to the wheels, completing the special look.
The Veyron is legendary for its speed, and one key highlight of the model is its 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 engine with 1,000 hp. 0-60 mph is dusted off in just 2.5 seconds (still a feat to this day), and the top speed is a scarcely believable 250 mph.

Another Special Veyron Was Sold Last Month
Just a little over a month ago, another special-edition Veyron went on sale; in fact, it was the first ‘mirror-finished’ variant, a 2008 “Pur Sang” (French for Thoroughbred). It sold for a very cool $2.3 million, and with the Nocturne being more exclusive, it could sell for much higher, with RM Sotheby’s estimating a hammer price of up to $2.5 million. The sale takes place on December 5, with the car currently based in Abu Dhabi.
