Cambridge Enterprise, the innovation arm of the University of Cambridge, has chosen West Harlem’s Factory District for the first U.S. outpost of its new Leap program, establishing a new pipeline that will bring Cambridge Enterprise companies to New York to pursue investors, customers, clinical relationships and opportunities for growth in the American market.
The inaugural New York Leap cohort includes five Cambridge Enterprise portfolio companies spanning the fields of brain cancer, multiple sclerosis and CNS therapeutics, aging-related disease, tumor measurement and integrated photonics. They include Verinnogen, Streamtrix, Aila Biotech, Senesys.Bio and Wave Photonics.
The companies will be based in Janus Property Company’s West Harlem Factory District, where they will utilize lab and office space and benefit from the specialized facilities and concentration of research institutions and startups of Innovation Triangle, as well as introductions to investors and potential commercial and clinical partners. The West Harlem outpost represents the second Leap cohort, following one in London.
