Today, Apple releases iOS 27, its new operating system for the iPhone. The software has been in beta testing since June, and early users have generally praised it for improved speed and stability.
But the headline feature for iOS 27 is, of course, artificial intelligence.
The operating system brings an all-new Siri AI chatbot to the iPhone. Siri is built on Google’s Gemini models, which greatly increases the intelligence and abilities of Apple’s historically derided personal digital assistant.

iOS 27 will be released to the public today, Monday, September 14. Apple confirmed that release date last week at its annual iPhone event, which saw the introduction of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the company’s first foldable, the iPhone Duo.
However, while Apple announced iOS 27 would be released today, it did not specify the time of the release.
This is not surprising. Apple never mentions the exact drop times for its operating systems. However, the company generally releases its major new operating systems at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, which is likely when you can expect iOS 27 to be released today.Â
