Coworking operator Workbar will open a 10,000-square-foot new location in Somerville’s Union Square, within the new USQ mixed-use development adjacent to the Union Square MBTA station. Housed in the Prospect Union Square residential tower at 50 Prospect St., the company will be the second commercial tenant signed to Magellan Development’s USQ project.
Founded in 2009, Workbar established itself through developing a network of city and suburban locations in and around Boston. Since then, Workbar has expanded across Boston and its suburbs with a total of 12 locations, including a Harvard Square facility that opened earlier this year.
Workbar formerly operated a few blocks away from the new location. “We’re excited to be back in Union Square,” said Sarah Travers, CEO of Workbar. “Union Square is quickly becoming a hub for innovation and growth, and Workbar is betting on its continued transformation. As a Boston-born-and-built company ourselves, we’re proud to invest in the businesses and professionals that call this community home.”
