One of the fastest growing and most competitive new car markets is that of the subcompact crossover SUV. There’s hardly a single mainstream automaker without at least one, if not more, entrants in the segment. It’s also a segment that Toyota has been trying to break into for a while. It started with the funky C-HR, but it never really found a following between its odd looks and lack of all-wheel drive. The company followed up with the much more conventional Corolla Cross, which also leans on both the platform and the name of Toyota’s famed small sedan.
