Ford has unveiled the updates to the 2027 Ford F-150. The updated F-150 will feature some styling changes, a new standard engine and a BlueCruise system that can be used hands-free even when towing. There is also a new F-150 Carhartt in the works to add the workwear brand’s hardy look to the range, and Ford is making the Tremor and Raptor more accessible.
You won’t see any radical departure from the F-150’s well-known silhouette in 2027, but Ford has made enough visual tweaks to the top-selling trims to set them apart from the old model. The XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum now come with new wheels and a reworked grille. According to Ford, this was done at the behest of customers who wanted a more modern take on the F-150’s appearance.
Then there is the matter of technology. Over 75 percent of F-150 owners put their truck to use for towing, so Ford has answered with BlueCruise with Towing. The updated hands-free driver-assistance system is built to handle a trailer, camper or boat in tow. It will be on the XLT, Tremor, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum.
Under the hood, the 2.7-liter V6 is out and a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost is in as the standard offering. Ford claims the two are equal in peak output, but the 3.0 gives you 10 to 11 percent more torque in the rev range you actually use day to day.
If you want more power, there’s the 5.0-liter V8 puts out 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. You can get 500 lb-ft and a 13,500-pound max tow rating from the 3.5-liter EcoBoost, and the PowerBoost hybrid hybrid leads with 570 lb-ft.
For the first time since 2023, the 5.0-liter V8 can be ordered in the F-150 King Ranch and Platinum. The naturally aspirated eight-cylinder is now an option from the base XL to the luxury Platinum.
Ford is also trying to put the off-road hardware of the F-150 Tremor within reach of a wider audience by pricing the 2027 version lower. To do so, they have done away with certain comfort and convenience items, but the components that make the Tremor capable on rough terrain are all still there.
The new entry-level Tremor is built on the STX, it forgoes dual-zone climate control in favor of manual A/C and does away with heated front seats. The eight-speaker B&O system is out, a six-speaker arrangement is in, and the power-sliding rear window has been replaced with fixed glass. Even the off-road running boards have been taken off.
Ford is applying much the same logic to the 2027 F-150 Raptor.
The base model still has the high-performance hardware one expects from the truck, but some of the more superfluous convenience features are gone to bring the price down. There is no head-up display or fog lights, and the 2.0-kW Pro Power Onboard, Mobile Office package and under-seat storage have all been eliminated. The power passenger seat and power steering column are also absent, the latter being a manual unit now. As for the 14-speaker B&O audio, it has been swapped for an eight-speaker system.
Lastly, the most eye-catching thing in the lineup, however, is the 2027 Ford F-150 Carhartt.
Having already done the Carhartt treatment on the F-Series Super Duty, Ford is making its debut with the F-150. The package is offered on four-wheel-drive XLT Crew Cabs and marries the workwear brand’s look with some practical changes.
From the outside you will notice unique 20-inch wheels, special fender vents and Carhartt badging, with lower rocker and tailgate graphics setting it apart from a run-of-the-mill XLT. Up front, a cowl hood and signature headlights make for a more aggressive stance, complemented by a modified grille, dual exhaust and off-road running boards. And then there is the Carhartt-branded spray-in bedliner, perhaps the most fitting touch of the collaboration.
The partnership goes deeper than a couple of badges on the exterior.
Durability was the thinking behind the two-tone Carhartt-themed seat covers found in the cabin. One will also find revised door trim, contrast stitching on the wheel and a center-console lid of its own, all topped off with all-weather floor mats bearing the Carhartt name.
All told, the Carhartt Package runs $4,195 and the 2027 F-150 Carhartt comes in at $62,660 to start.
