Porsche Smashes Corvette ZR1’s Road Atlanta Record With 7-Year-Old 911 GT2 RS

Of all the things on my 2026 automotive bingo card, seeing a lap record rivalry explode between Porsche and Chevrolet was not one I expected to become a reality. But in the last few months alone, Porsche and Manthey Racing have made it their mission to rain on the Corvette ZR1’s parade at every opportunity possible, most notably by taking a 518-horsepower 911 GT3 RS with the Manthey Kit and beating the Nürburgring lap time set by two Corvettes with double the horsepower.
