Baylor College of Medicine has debuted its new Lillie and Roy Cullen Tower, a 503,000-square-foot medical education facility. The 11-story tower will become the new home of Baylor’s School of Medicine and School of Health Professions. Baylor reported reaching a $150 million fundraising goal for Cullen Tower.
Construction began in May 2023. The development is the first phase of Baylor’s planned Michael E. DeBakey Health Sciences Park, an approximately 800,000-square-foot campus project designed to bring medical education, research, and clinical care together. The campus is adjacent to the Texas Medical Center’s 37-acre Helix Park development.
The Cullen Tower was designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, with Linbeck serving as general contractor, and JLL as project manager. The building was designed around collaborative and hands-on medical education, with small-group learning spaces, theater-style teaching areas, anatomy and teaching laboratories, simulation facilities, and research space focused in part on data analytics.
