BMW remains one of the last bastions of the manual gearbox among major brands, but even it isn’t immune to shifting market currents. The automaker last week unveiled the 2026 Z4 Final Edition to mark the end of the run of the current third-generation roadster, which buyers can opt for with a stick shift. While BMW hasn’t confirmed the nameplate is gone for good, the automaker also hasn’t announced a successor. That shouldn’t trigger panic just yet – there have been Z4 dry spells before.
