For nearly 90 years, the concept car as a whole has been an important cornerstone of the automotive industry. Since Buick’s Y-Job concept, introduced in 1938 and considered the first concept car, automakers have spent untold amounts of money and time developing futuristic, one-off models meant to show the world just exactly what they can do when their R & D department is allowed to let their hair down a bit. In addition, concept cars also provide brands with a way to display what their vision of the future may hold.
