Sat for Months
The Ford Escape ended its 25-year production run in late 2025. The nameplate spanned four generations, with the last unit rolling off the Blue Oval’s Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky on December 17, 2025. The last example was a 2026 Ford Escape ST-Line, the final Escape before the plant underwent a massive retooling to prepare for Ford’s incoming lineup of electric vehicles.
One Ford dealer, Van Horn Ford of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, kept it on the lot for about eight months before it was finally sold after multiple discounts.

The Final Escape…
Ford Authority was the first to cover this historic event for the Escape nameplate. They tracked the final Ford Escape from the factory and traced it to the Van Horn Ford dealership, where it sat for a while. The Escape is a 2026 ST-Line painted Star White Metallic Tri-Coat with an Ebony interior, a Panoramic Vista Roof, all-wheel drive, and the Cold Weather Package with a heated steering wheel, plus heated seats and mirrors.
The ST-Line Escape’s engine is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder that produces 180 horsepower and 199 ft-lbs of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and sending power to all four wheels. Whoever got this car must have gotten a good deal, given how long it sat and the numerous discounts the dealer tacked on to move the discontinued model.
The dealer listed this car for $38,020, then dropped the price by $5,983 to $32,037 for a while. Still sitting in the lot, the dealer cut the price even further by $7,021, and this Ford Escape eventually reached a documented low of $30,999. Neither we nor our sources know the final selling price, but we’re sure it’s no longer on the Ford Van Horn dealer’s lot or in its listings.

This is the last generation of the Ford Escape for now because Ford has stopped production of the nameplate; it’s looking to bring it back in the near future as a compact all-electric crossover. The same car will be produced in the factory where the last Ford Escape was built.
The model is expected to debut after Ford’s electrified mid-size pickup truck sometime in the near future. Production is expected to start in 2029 at Ford’s Louisville, Kentucky plant. Until then, there’s some time for Ford Van Horn to celebrate the final production unit sale.
