Ford has reportedly given dealers an early preview of its future product lineup, including a new $25,000 Ford SUV that is expected to become the brand’s most affordable model when it arrives later this decade.
According to Automotive News, Ford showcased the upcoming affordable SUV during a recent dealer meeting in Las Vegas, where executives presented a video featuring early design sketches. The images previewed a compact, boxy SUV that one dealer compared to the original Ford Escape, suggesting the new model will embrace a more rugged, upright design.
Unlike the recently announced Ford Fathom electric pickup, which rides on Ford’s new Universal EV platform, the new Ford SUV is expected to use a different architecture. The report says it will be offered with both hybrid and traditional gasoline powertrains rather than as a fully electric vehicle.
Although the sketches were only an early look at the vehicle, the report suggests the new Ford SUV will feature a squared-off design inspired by the first-generation Escape. It’s expected to go on sale in 2029.
