The St. Regis Houston is undergoing a transformation, with a new brand and a new look. The Houston Business Journal reports Leslie Doggett bought the hotel and plans to rename it The Houston Grand Hotel — River Oaks, and plans to launch a multimillion-dollar renovation project over the next year.
The hotel, at 1919 Briar Oaks Lane, originally opened in 1982 as The Remington and later was converted into Houston’s first Ritz-Carlton. However, The Ritz-Carlton was stripped of its name in 1997 and it became a St. Regis-branded hotel.
The renovations are being overseen by Saddlebrook Equity and Management. HEI Hotels & Resorts has taken over management of the hotel.
Upgrades include the lobby, rooms, event space, fitness center, pool deck and a new bar and updated restaurant.
