Instagram just rolled out a new feature that makes it easier to curate your feed. It’s now possible to swap out the audio track on published posts and carousels. Previously, users could only change the song by deleting the post and then re-uploading it with a different one.
The newly introduced Replace Audio tool lets users update the music on their published posts at any time while keeping the post’s existing likes, comments, shares, and reach intact.
Here’s how to replace the audio on an existing post:
- Navigate to the post
- Tap More Options
- Tap Edit
- Select a new audio track
- Tap Done
The feature is being rolled out globally today.
Whether you accidentally uploaded the wrong song before hitting publish or you want to refresh existing posts with your latest tunes in heavy rotation, Instagram’s Replace Audio tool makes it easy to update your feed without losing the engagement that your post has already attracted. It’s a small change with a big impact.
Replace Audio is one of many new app features
Meta Platforms, Instagram’s owner, has been rolling out new features lately.
In June, it added a highly requested feature that allows users to rearrange their profile grid.
The social media brand also introduced its Instagram Plus subscription, which unlocks subscriber-only features, like the ability to create and manage multiple story audiences, and a story rewatch insights tool to see how many times their stories were rewatched. Instagram Plus costs $3.99 a month.
Not all of the new features have been well received by users.
Earlier in July, Meta added new AI effects to its app. It also shared that users could generate AI images featuring their friends by mentioning their friends’ public Instagram accounts in Meta AI. After widespread public backlash, the company announced it had removed the feature.
