Divine ARCS Skiing Card
Skiing is as much a mental sport as it is a physical one. Whether you’re tackling your first blue run, working through fear after a fall, or simply hoping to enjoy more confident turns, your mindset can make all the difference. That’s the inspiration behind Divine ARCS Affirmation Cards, a unique deck created by Canadian ski instructors Kristin Hurd and Karen Musgrave to help skiers and snowboarders build confidence, embrace mindfulness, and reconnect with the joy of skiing.
The founders recently joined the Ski Moms Podcast to share how years of teaching on the slopes inspired a product that speaks to the emotional side of skiing—a topic that resonates with women and lifelong learners alike.
Affirmation Cards Designed for Skiers
Unlike traditional affirmation decks, Divine ARCS was created specifically for mountain sports. The deck includes 31 skiing affirmations, each paired with stunning mountain photography captured by Kristin Hurd and designed to encourage positive thinking before, during, or after a day on the slopes.
The concept is refreshingly simple. At the beginning of your ski day, shuffle the cards, choose one, and let that message guide your mindset. Whether your card reminds you to “Leave Your Mark,” embrace “Positive Vibes Only,” or remember that every fall is an opportunity to learn, the goal is to quiet self-doubt and replace it with intention.
For many skiers—especially women returning to the sport or skiing with more advanced family members—those reminders can be surprisingly powerful. Demographic trends tell us that women drop out of skiing after then kids grow up. Conversations like these can help make space for us on the mountains.

Why Mindfulness Matters in Skiing
Karen and Kristin met as instructors and have spent years teaching students of every ability level at SilverStar Mountain Resort in British Columbia. Through their experience, they’ve seen firsthand that technical skills are only one piece of becoming a stronger skier. Fear, overthinking, and negative self-talk often create the biggest obstacles.
Their teaching philosophy centers on being present in the moment. Instead of focusing on everything that could go wrong, they encourage students to breathe, trust the skills they already have, and celebrate every victory—no matter how small.
It’s a refreshing reminder that skiing isn’t about perfection. It’s about confidence, progress, and having fun on the mountain.
That message aligns perfectly with the growing conversation around mindfulness in outdoor sports, where mental resilience is becoming just as important as physical ability.

Women Supporting Women on the Mountain
One of the most compelling parts of the podcast conversation is the discussion around women’s ski instruction. Karen and Kristin have both found that all-women lessons often create an environment where skiers feel more comfortable asking questions, trying new terrain, and pushing past fear without judgment. We find the same thing holds true with our Ski Moms women-only events.
That supportive atmosphere inspired not only the affirmation cards but also their upcoming Divine ARCS Ski Experiences, designed to combine professional instruction with encouragement and confidence-building.
For ski moms, it’s an important reminder that investing in your own skiing doesn’t just benefit you—it creates more opportunities to enjoy the mountains alongside your family.
Discover SilverStar Mountain Resort
Karen and Kristin both teach at SilverStar Mountain Resort, one of British Columbia’s hidden gems. Located near Vernon in British Columbia’s beautiful Okanagan Valley, SilverStar is known for its colorful ski village, uncrowded slopes, reliable natural snowfall, and exceptional ski school. I haven’t gotten to ski there yet, but my daughter has done a few cross country ski camps there and raved about it! Nordic skiers have more than 100 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails. But most visitors will go for the groomed alpine skiing. Families appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, while experienced skiers love the diverse terrain that stretches well beyond the front side of the mountain. Having all these options make SilverStar a destination that truly offers something for every winter enthusiast.
Beyond skiing, visitors can enjoy skating, tubing, snowshoeing, fat biking, and nearby wineries and cideries throughout the Okanagan region.
