Garden fairies here.
We are garden fairies and let us tell you that the laughter never stops around here. Whether we are hiding tools…
Forget we wrote that! We do not confess, admit, nor verify that we ever hide Carol’s tools. Nor do we put those kinks in her garden hose that are driving her crazy.
But we do find it absolutely hilarious when Carol is looking for a tool or trying to shake another kink out of the garden hose.
We also thought it was just about the funniest thing of the summer when Carol almost walk straight into a gigantic, huge, ginormous spider web that a gigantic, huge, enormous garden spider built in the arch she put in the garden.
But what did she expect? Such an arch is the absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt perfect place for a gigantic, huge, enormous garden spider to spin her gigantic, huge, enormous web.
Anyway, Carol stopped just before she became the prey of that gigantic, huge, enormous spider. No doubt that little noise that Granny ‘Gus’ McGarden made is what stopped her, but Carol won’t realize that. So we’ll get no thanks, which is fine. We are garden fairies. No thanks needed.
Another funny moment was when Carol found two big squashes in the garden after she had mostly given up on the squash plants. But Seedy and Soddy decided to work on those plants a bit and before you know it, they had coaxed them into producing some more squashes.
Then Hortense and Honoria hid them under some of the big squash leaves so Carol wouldn’t see them right away and they could grow to be gigantic, huge, enormous squashes!
Anyway, it worked! We loved the look on her face when she saw them. Even Granny, who can sometimes be a bit too serious about growing vegetables, thought it was hilarious.
But then Granny got right back to business trying to figure out what the tomato plant labeled “Beefsteak” is only producing little ping-pong ball-sized tomatoes. Did Carol mess up when she sowed seeds for tomatoes back in spring? Nope. She’s in the clear because this plant has a store tag with it, so she bought it like that.
Anyway, it’s a mystery because honestly, we think Carol picked one big tomato off that vine, but then all the rest have been puny little excuses. Tasty, however. But puny none-the-less.
We are garden fairies! It’s a laugh a minute around here, and we could go on and on, but we are busy, and resting, too. After all, we’ve just pushed up all the resurrection lilies, a sure sign that before long we’ll have to start on leaf-coloring, but not for a while.
Repeat after us, “We shall not rush fall.”
